The Salvation Army’s Nelson Family Store is on Hardy Street in the heart of the city, a block from Trafalgar Street and the cathedral steps. It is the only charity shop on this list you can reach on foot from central Nelson’s cafés, so it makes an easy stop on a city walk.
The Salvation Army explicitly lists books among Family Store stock, and the shelf turns over with donations from across the city. Expect general fiction, cookbooks and children’s books rather than collectables. Profits fund the Nelson Tasman Bays Corps’ community work.
