About

The Kaikōura Community Op Shop occupies the Cuddon Building at 25 Beach Road, a council-owned community building just north of the town centre. It is run entirely by volunteers for a charitable trust that funds projects for the health and wellbeing of the Kaikōura community, and grew out of the town’s recovery from the 2016 earthquake.

The Marlborough Community Directory describes it as selling “a huge range of items”, and we confirmed in November 2026 that books are part of the mix. It is open weekdays and Saturday mornings, and the SPCA Op Shop is a short walk further along Beach Road, so the two make an easy pair.

Price tip: Op-shop prices on donated books.

What you’ll find

A shelf of donated books — fiction, non-fiction and children’s titles that change with what locals and visitors drop off.
