About
The ReStore Eco Shop is run by Innovative Waste Kaikōura (IWK) at the town’s recycling and resource recovery centre on Scarborough Street — what locals call the dump, south of the town centre. IWK takes clean, workable household goods, clothing, furniture, books and toys and resells them in the shop, and there is a free-stuff table at the entrance that turns over fast.
The book selection is small but very affordable, as we confirmed in November 2026. It is open seven days, with short hours on Tuesdays, so it works as a weekend stop too.

Books confirmed by secondhandbookshops.co.nz in November 2026, and IWK lists books among the donations it accepts for the shop. Hours are IWK’s published depot and eco shop hours; the yard can close in severe wind, and changes are posted on IWK’s Facebook page.
