Steadfast Books — Addington

A secondhand bookshop in Addington, Christchurch. Part of the Greater Christchurch secondhand bookshops directory — see also our NZ used-book price guide.

About

Steadfast Books is a curated secondhand bookshop now based on Wise Street in Addington, a short hop from The Tannery. It previously sat in the Ferry Road / Ensors “bookshop precinct” beside Book Barn; the move kept the same careful buying eye in a quieter industrial-edge spot.

Expect strong non-fiction (around four-fifths of the stock, by the shop’s own framing), classic and modern fiction, graphic novels, and occasional new imports. Shelves are orderly — a deliberate contrast to the banana-box chaos next door at Book Barn when both were neighbours — so it’s a good pick if you want to find a title without wading through unsorted piles.

For used books in Addington or a calmer browse after a Tannery coffee, Steadfast rewards a dedicated visit. Opening days are Wednesday to Sunday; closed Monday and Tuesday.

Price tip: Spinoff noted roughly $6–12 for paperbacks when reviewed at the former Ferry Rd site — curated, still reasonable.

What you’ll find

Curated second-hand non-fiction, literary and classic fiction, graphic novels, and selected new titles — less romance-pile, more deliberate stock.
